Energy Department Funds Data Center Cooling Research

$42 million is being invested in energy-efficient solutions.

The Department of Energy has announced that $42 million in funding will be dedicated to research energy-efficient ways to cool data center computers. According to the department, “Data centers account for approximately 2% of total U.S. electricity production, while data center cooling can account for up to 40% of data center energy usage overall.”

“Creating solutions to cool data centers efficiently and reduce the associated carbon emissions supports the technological breakthroughs needed to fight climate change and secure our clean energy future,” said Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. The department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy will be managing the selection and funding process for this endeavor.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Granholm to be discerning in the direction of energy research investments the department makes.
  • For U.S. energy officials as they support solutions to reduce energy consumption.
  • For the president and his advisors to seek the Lord’s wisdom regarding energy production and distribution.
